Belmundo Festival 1st June (in Arboretum)

To start with a new festival round in this rebirth (hopefully) of the forum.

The only thing I know going on in Wage:

The 3rd Belmundo Festival On the 1st of June 2008, the 3rd Belmondo Festival will take place in the Belmonte Arboretum of Wageningen UR, from 13.00 till 19.00 hours.

This cultural festival gives an opportunity to individuals and groups, local or international, to show their creative skills, as well as cultural characteristics of their home country. Each festival has its own theme; the theme of this year's version will be "Discover the Feeling of Wageningen".

The proceeds of an auction of art and those from the sale of drinks and snacks by members of the Rotary club Wageningen bergpoort, will be donated to the mini-zoo near Duivendaal in Wageningen for renovation of the complex. While the proceeds of the sale of drinks and snacks by the international (student) group are for there selves.

As there will not be a Global Village Day this year, international [student] groups are welcome to present themselves to the Wageningen community.

these things can only happen there.

like the "culture day" that we founf once in the market. that show where the non european countries put their stands, with the local food and traditions... such a mixturized place. That feels impressive to me...

Do you remember that we wanted to sell some omelets, and sangría and calimocho in the market, with music and other things, just to have fun? the party seems to be the ideal space to do it.
I can go just one time to wage, it could be nice to be there that time...

An opportunity for international (student) groups to participate. Groups can present themselves for example by giving shows, workshops, or selling snacks and other items typical for their home country, and showing traditional dresses. The profits of selling snacks can be kept . Participation is free of charge.

The Festival is organised by the 'Foundation Belmondo festival', a foundation mainly manned by members of the Rotary club Wageningen bergpoort . The organisation as well as the infrastructure in mainly handled by Rotarians. All costs for the infrastructure will be covered by sponsors.

The aim of the Belmondo Festivals is threefold:
· to offer a festival to the population of Wageningen and its surrounding region;
· to give the opportunity to local and international (student) groups to present themselves;
· to raise money for a 'useful' purpose in Wageningen.

The Rotary club will sell drinks and Dutch snacks; and together with an art fair, money will be raised for the 'useful' purpose, which is this year the infrastructure of the to be renewed mini-zoo near the WICC building in Wageningen.

In the 1st and 2nd Belmondo Festival, a number of international student groups participated. As there will be no Global Village Day this year, it might be an opportunity for other groups to participate as well in the Belmondo festival.

An outline of the programme should be ready by April 15, 2008.

Nice to have a festival in Arboretum just because I am all the day up the hill and then I have only to walk some metters to go in (and then come back, work can not be stopped because of that ).
